Mr. Kotsopoulos has over 33 years of professional experience in the field of land use planning. His professional career has comprised various positions in both the public and private sectors. He has developed a broad and varied knowledge base and a wide range of planning skills and tools. He has managed staff and has coordinated the completion of several projects with the assistance of a variety of sub-consultants.

In his current position as Principal of JKO Planning Services Inc., Mr. Kotsopoulos is responsible for providing a complete range of land use and community planning services.

Similarly, in his previous position as Senior Associate with Armstrong Hunter & Associates, Mr. Kotsopoulos was responsible for providing a complete range of land use and community planning services to a variety of private sector groups. He was directly involved in the coordination, preparation, research and presentation of same of a variety of planning approval applications (i.e. Official Plans, Zoning By-laws, Draft Plans of Subdivision, Site Plans, Draft Plans of Condominium and Committee of Adjustment proposals) for residential, commercial, institutional and industrial forms of development and redevelopment projects both within and outside of the Greater Toronto Area. During his six years there, he worked on many projects, such as Queen’s Quay Terminal – Phase II, Eaton Centre – Phase IV Addition, and Four Seasons Resort Nevis. After joining Diamond and Schmitt Architects in 2006 as a LEED-specialist, he managed dozens of LEED Gold projects. His research at Diamond and Schmitt focused on effectiveness of architectural strategies in terms of energy consumption reduction and energy cost saving, lifecycle analysis, as well as impacts of the 2030 Challenge on architectural design.

Shenshu graduated from Hefei University of Technology with a Bachelor of Architecture and completed his Master’s at Tianjin University, in China. He received his PhD (Dr-Ing) for research in energy-efficient building design from the University of Stuttgart, in Germany.
